Nokia releases Qt 4.5 and Qt Creator 1.0 - Qt Extended will pro bag
The news is old but is still warm. On the last day Tuesday March 3, Nokia announced the long awaited version 4.5 of Qt, gave an order in Qt Extended and also released the first release of Qt Creator.
The first innovation was the packaging of all libraries and tools in one package, providing a graphical installer. This "package" was called Qt SDK . So you want a standard installation without a lot of headaches just need to download a single binary, run it and next, next, finish.
From this version of Qt is available under the license LGPL version 2.1 , allowing developers to use the framework in commercial applications without licensing costs. So those companies that use (\ w *) mo Qt GPL clandestinely in its commercial applications, they can retire the parrot and rum once! Ma-ra-vi-lha!
Among the novelties we can also mention an improvement in the interaction with WebKit , including API support for plugins, which makes Qt applications able to run Flash. We also added some advanced effects such as animation and zooming as well as a new JavaScript engine much faster.
The first release of Qt Creator shows that the guys walked not sleeping much lately , because the IDE has evolved greatly and now has some very interesting features. On the other hand is still not 100%, with some crashes (on my system). Nevertheless, I intend to test a project there at work.
Another striking improvement in performance of this version is. They walked a lot in moving graphics system, engine paint, etc.. It seems silly but I realized a monumental difference in the rendering of objects visible to the naked eye. I was impressed! Veloacidade This can also be noticed in Qt Creator.
Other interesting features have been improved / added. To check, follow the direct link from the Qt Software site .
Another interesting point is that Nokia has put a whitewash on Qt Extended, announcing its discontinuity. The latest version, 4.4.3 is still supported for another year, however the most important features will be migrated to Qt itself, focusing on just one product, as can be seen on the official announcement .
If you prefer to compile the source code yourself, you can download it directly from the ftp Qt Software: ftp://ftp.qtsoftware.com/qt/source/ .
