According to wikipedia, the data are a jumble of codes, meaning that the gain becomes information. The information in turn is still not contributing to transformation of the world. Have the knowledge, according to some philosophical, appears to give up the intention and movement information.

The information itself has no value. A book without someone to read, nothing more than paper and ink, a database without an application that works with it, is but a amontoadado of bits and bytes. In this aspect, which adds value to information, is give it movement, transforming it into knowledge, which in turn must influence the environment around them.

Making an analogy to physics, information is like the mass of a body and knowledge is the result of the disruption that this mass causes the space around it, a force that only has meaning when interacting with another body. If there is no interaction, there is not knowledge but information.
